A typical swim spa uses propellers, jets and/or paddle wheels in order to create a current so individuals using the swim spa can swim without moving forward in the water. It is a great way to save space in your backyard, rather than installing a whole swimming pool. Swim spas can be built indoors, or in your backyard.

A swim spa can accomodate people of many different fitness levels, from beginners to experts. The current system can be easily adjusted to suit any level of swimmer; or can be turned off completely so you can enjoy the spa part of the swim spa. Swim spas can also be used for aerobic exercise and hydrotherapy. Like some swimming pools, swim spas can be equipped with stereo systems that are audible underwater – so, a great way to get fit, have fun and relax!

Swim spa models come in either in-ground or above-ground varieties, and tend to be made from fibreglass, stainless steel covered with a vinyl layer or acrylic. Generally, a swim spa is 4-6 metres long, 2.3 metres wide and 1.3 metres deep; however Swim Spas can be found in many different sizes to suit your requirements. You can select a range of options including seating, or a section at the other end of the swim spa dedicated to relaxing in a traditional hot-tub styled spa.

In terms of operation, a swim spa is very similar to a regular spa. They come equipped with a shell, pumps, heaters and filters, to maintain your swim spa effectively. It is important to always consider the costs of running and maintaining your swim spa whilst budgeting. Come on in to Spa-Rite today, or give us a call, and we will help you to select the perfect swim spa for you!
